MSP vows to fight PO closures
LABOUR MSP Sarah Boyack today vowed to fight proposed post office closures in her Edinburgh central constituency.
A total of 13 post offices are facing the axe in Edinburgh and a six-week consultation by the Royal Mail is now under way.
Ms Boyack said: "I am against the proposed closure of the Nicolson Street Post Office. I have seen for myself how busy the Nicolson Street Post Office is and know that it is relied upon by many older people and people with disabilities who use the post office while at the pharmacy.
"Over 600 people have already signed petitions objecting to the closure and feelings are running high in the area.
"I also know that people in Gorgie and Shandon will be concerned to hear about the possible loss of these local post offices and would urge local people to make their views known during the consultation period."
