MSP praises school's PE
A HIGH school in a deprived area of Edinburgh has been praised in the Scottish Parliament.
Lothian MSP Ian McKee has lodged a motion congratulating Wester Hailes Education Centre for setting an example to schools across the country by exceeding the Scottish Government's PE target of two hours per week.
All S1 pupils at WHEC receive two hours, rising to three hours in S2 and S3 and five hours in S4. In S5 and S6, 64 per cent of pupils continue with classes, which is well above the national average.
Dr McKee said: "WHEC is an example to other city schools."
