AN MP has launched a bid to stop pubs and shops barring members of the armed forces because they are in uniform.

It follows the Ensign Ewart’s refusal to serve crew from HMS Edinburgh – who were given Freedom of the City – because they were in uniform.

Thomas Docherty, MP for Dunfermline and West Fife, is presenting the Private Member’s Bill today in a bid to ban what he called “discrimination at home”.

He said: “This Bill will outlaw unacceptable behaviour of a minority who embarrass our country.”
