Movie contest makes debut

A LEADING short film award is to be staged in Edinburgh for the first time this year.

The 48 Hour Film Project, which takes place in over 60 cities across the world, will come to the Capital's Cameo cinema in May.

During the event, aspiring filmmakers will compete to write, shoot and edit a short film between May 16 and 18. All films will then be screened and judged at the Cameo on May 20 and 21.

More than 30,000 filmmakers from across the world take part in the competition every year to win the Best 48 Hour Film title, and have their movie shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
