Motorcyclist badly hurt in car collision
A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously injured in a crash with a car in the Capital last night.
Police are trying to trace a man, thought to be a firefighter, who helped a doctor give the motorcyclist first aid before paramedics arrived.
The 24-year-old man was riding his black motorbike south in Saughton Road North when it collided with a Blue Fiat at the junction with Tyler’s Acre Avenue about 6.10pm.
The driver of the car stopped to help and is helping police with their inquiries.
Witnesses indicated to police that the motorcyclist was given first aid before the arrival of the ambulance service by a female doctor, who was helped by a man they thought was a firefighter.
A police spokesman said “We know the identity of the doctor, and are asking for the person described as a firefighter to get in touch with us to establish what he did to assist and to learn what he may have seen.
“The police would also like to speak with any person, motorist or pedestrian who was in the area and who saw what happened.”
