Most patients get to see GP within 2 days
THE vast majority of Lothians patients are able to book GP appointments within 48 hours, a government survey has found.
Tens of thousands of patients were questioned about how long it took them to get a booking with a health professional, with 90 per cent of people saying they managed to get an appointment within 48 hours.
The figure is in keeping with the national average.
GPs were congratulated by health secretary Nicola Sturgeon and Dr Ken Lawton, the chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Scotland.
Dr Jean Turner, director of the Scotland Patients Association, said: "I think that the response to the survey shows how keen the Scottish people are to help improve access.
"While the overall percentages are high for Scotland, there still is a significant minority in all areas who need more access."
