'Missionaries' fined by Algeria

A COURT in Algeria handed £800 fines and six-month suspended jail terms to two Christians yesterday for trying to convert Muslims, a defence lawyer said, in the latest in a series of trials stirring accusations of religious repression.

Rachid Seghir and Djallal Dahmani were punished for "distributing documents to disrupt the Muslim faith".
