Miss UK seal of approval for sea sanctuary
MISS UK was today set to open a new seal sanctuary at Deep Sea World.
Former Miss Scotland Nicola Jolly was asked to be special guest at today’s unveiling of the biggest extension to the well-known marine attraction since it opened 12 years ago.
The sanctuary at Deep Sea World, in North Queensferry, Fife, will be run in conjunction with the Scottish SPCA.
It has been designed to give the public a greater insight into the life of sea creatures and make them more aware of the issues facing seals.
It will be dedicated to the rehabilitation and then the release of orphaned, injured or sick seal pups found along the country’s east coast.
The pups will recuperate in the sanctuary, before being released to live a natural life in the wild along the east coast.
And it will be home to common seals who will take up permanent residence at Deep Sea World.
Admission to Deep Sea World costs 8.55 for adults, or 6.30 for children aged between three and 15.
Deep Sea World is open daily between 10am and 6pm.
