Mini heatwave will peter out, say forecasters
SCOTLAND continued to bask in scorching sunshine yesterday.
Edinburgh enjoyed temperatures of 25C, while Glasgow topped the country with 26C.
However, while most of mainland Scotland enjoyed virtually unbroken sun, the far north, including Orkney and Wick, shivered under grey skies and coast-al fog, with temperatures barely scraping into double figures.
But any hopes that the balmy weather would go on were dashed yesterday, as forecasters predicted "slow deterioration" over the coming week and "a few spots of rain" today.
Ian Robinson, a forecaster with the Met Office, said cooling temperatures could see night frosts in the Highlands during the early hours of Wednesday, with wintry showers in the hills and a big possibility of showers during the rest of the week.
