Two men were arrested following the siege

TWO men are being questioned by police after an apparent siege in Glasgow.

A further two men were last night taken to hospital with minor injuries following the stand-off in Newton Mearns last night.

Police were called to a property in Muirhill Crescent yesterday after reports of a “distrubance”, but the occupiers barricaded the door and refused to let them in. They also set a fire inside the property - leading to two men being removed.

The fire was extinguished by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.

The two men were taken to hospital with what police described as minor injuries - but two more stayed inside.

Police negotiators and public order trained staff were both at the scene.

The first man left the property at around 9.30pm, and the second at 11pm, Strathclyde police said.

They are currently being held by police investigating the incident.
