Medics' legal advice office opens in city

AN organisation which offers legal advice and support to doctors and dentists is to open its first Scottish office in Edinburgh.

The Medical Protection Society, which has offices in London and Leeds, will have its Scottish headquarters up and running by April at the as yet unnamed location.

MPS represents 250,000 medics in 40 countries across the world. The opening of the Edinburgh office will create 20 jobs in the city.

The organisation is looking to build on the 7000 members it currently has in Scotland.

MPS chief executive Tony Mason said: "The new office in Edinburgh is an exciting move for MPS.

"As the largest indemnifier of healthcare professionals around the world, our aim is to use the expertise gained from supporting our medical and dental members for over 110 years to deliver a high-quality local and personalised service.

"MPS is financially strong and growing despite the current economic turmoil."
