Your little story (3 November) on the retiring Alistair Darling’s youthful dalliance with Marxism reminded me of my youthful arguments with my Labour-loving uncle Willie.
I often asked him why so many in his party had admired “Uncle Joe” Stalin – a bigger mass murderer than Adolf Hitler.
And answer came there none.
I was then 17 and am now 71. Nothing has changed for me over the years, so the Scottish Labourites’ self-inflicted mortal wounds bring cheer to me.
