Marly's Solar Girl wins a global role

A SCOTTISH schoolgirl will have her artwork shown in the Tate Modern next month after winning a nation-wide competition with hundreds of entries.

Marly Falconer, 11, a student at Caol Primary School, Fort William, was picked to represent the UK in a global art exhibition opening in London on 2 April, along with children from 15 other countries.

Her work Solar Girl shows a girl with planets in her plaits and stars on her body, but with her face masked.

Marly is a member of Room 13, a Fort William organisation giving pupils the opportunity to run their own art studio within their schools.
