Marketing body launches online daily digest of Capital

A DAILY digest of Edinburgh life will be shared with more than 30,000 people online as the Capital becomes the first city in the world to exploit a new social curation technology.

Marketing Edinburgh – the firm tasked with promoting the Capital across the world – has launched the innovative newsletter “Enjoy Edinburgh” using the Scoop.it social hub to gather and distribute stories about the city from around the web. Highlighting key stories – from job investment to festival announcements – the newsletter will promote the diversity of life in Edinburgh and be distributed across e-mail, Twitter and Facebook.

John Donnelly, new CEO of Marketing Edinburgh said it was a “punchy, visual and very progressive way” to publicise city news.

“For its size, the city generates a huge amount of talking points and content,” he said. “We wanted to find a way to reflect this energy and information in a compact, easily 
readable way.

“A typical edition could include anything from news on business expansion in the city, to breakthroughs made by the research departments within Edinburgh’s universities.

“We’ve tested it out over the last couple of weeks with a select group and feedback has been overwhelmingly 
positive.”

Scoop.it is rapidly growing and has reached 7 million unique visitors a month in just 17 months since its launch.
