Man who ‘lost the plot’ admits murder
A MAN “lost the plot” in an argument with his partner and stabbed her to death, a court has heard.
Graham Buist, 30, admitted murdering Joanne Rennie, 35, in the flat they shared in Arbroath, Angus, in September last year.
The High Court in Edinburgh was told yesterday that Ms Rennie, a slightly built woman of 4ft 10in in height, had been in a relationship with Buist for more than two years. During that time, he had been convicted three times for “domestic” offences, including assault.
On the night of the murder, Buist and Ms Rennie had been drinking heavily. Buist made a 999 call, stating: “I’ve murdered my partner…stabbed her.”
The wound was an estimated 17cm deep and had penetrated the sac surrounding the heart and sliced a major vein.
Buist will be sentenced later this month.
