Man in court charged with rape at T in the Park
A 28-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court yesterday in connection with the abduction and rape of a teenager at the T in the Park music festival.
Finlay Barber of Kingsmuir Crescent, Peebles, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court on a petition alleging he raped an 18-year-old at the event. He is alleged to have befriended the victim at the music festival in Balado, Kinross, between 11 and 12 July this year.
The petition alleges that, while he was acting with another person, Barber abducted the young woman after meeting her in the venue and inviting her for a drink.
He is alleged to have led her to the car park area before forcing her into a van, and when she attempted to escape, he forced her to return to the vehicle, where it is alleged the sexual attack took place.
He made no plea or declaration and was freed with the additional bail condition he does not approach the alleged victim.
