Man held over 'Gerbil' shooting
A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a known gangster in a supermarket car park.
Kevin Carroll - who went by the underworld nickname Gerbil - died after being shot as he sat in the back of an Audi car.
The 29-year-old was parked outside the Asda store in Rob-royston, Glasgow, on 13 January this year when he was shot in broad daylight.
Strathclyde Police yesterday said that a 28-year-old man had been arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the death. He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
Carroll was said to have survived an attempt on his life three years ago.
The career criminal, also known as Kevin McCabe, was a key figure in the Daniels crime family. At the time, his death sparked fears of a new turf war for control of north Glasgow's drugs market.
