Man arrested over death of oil worker
A MAN was yesterday arrested by detectives investigating the “suspicious” death of an oil worker at his home in the Angus town of Carnoustie.
Tayside Police launched a major investigation in December after the body of Tony English, 59, was found at his cottage home in the town’s Kinloch Street. His death certificate revealed that the cause of death was a stab wound to his forearm.
Mr English, originally from Lisburn, County Antrim, in Northern Ireland, had stayed in Carnoustie for around 30 years and had worked as a driller in the North Sea oil and gas industry and as a golf caddy. He was said by police to be a “well-recognised face” in the town.
Two people were initially questioned in connection with his death and later released.
