A MAN was taken to hospital after being assaulted at an Edinburgh music venue in the early hours of this morning.

The 47-year-old was attacked in the Jam House on Queen Street at around 1.30am, according to police.

He suffered injuries to his face in the serious assault and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Jim Philp said: “This man appears to have been the victim of an unprovoked assault, and has been left requiring hospital treatment as a result of his injuries.

“A lot of inquiry has been done, but it would seem there were a number of people in the area who may have seen what happened and we are urging them to contact us on 101.”
