Man sought over street cash attack

A MAN was attacked during a robbery attempt while taking cash from his business to a bank.

The 58-year-old was walking towards Allied Irish Bank on West George Street, Glasgow, at about 1:30pm on Monday when he was attacked from behind.

He had just walked past a parked black BMW car when a man who was leaning into the window of the vehicle turned and assaulted him and tried to steal a backpack that contained a “substantial” amount of cash.

A friend of the victim, who was waiting for him in another car, saw the assault and ran across the street. He pulled the attacker off his friend and they began fighting in the middle of the road. The attacker is described as white, about 50, 
5ft 11ins, with cropped grey hair and a stocky build. Police are appealing for witnesses.
