A WORKER at a specialist microwave development company in Dundee “miraculously” escaped serious injury when the offices were targeted by vandals, it was revealed today.
The employee at the Trak Microwave plant in Dundee’s Dunsinane Avenue was almost struck by the large stones used to smash his office windows while he was working inside.
The vandals were spotted attacking the premises on the factory’s CCTV system and fled as employees of the company arrived at the scene.
Trak Microwave is a leading company in the develomenet of specialist microwave systems for use by armed forces and emergency services.
A spokeswoman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said: “ About 7.20pm last night a number of large stones were thrown through four windows at the rear of Trak Microwave. One of the stones narrowly missed an employee who was showered in glass but miraculously wasn’t injured.
“Four male youths were seen running away to the waste ground at Beechwood. One of the males was wearing a white or cream coloured hooded top and had thick dark hair that was long on the top. The youths were seen on the factory CCTV returning a short time later but ran off when they were chased away by employees at the factory.”
The spokeswoman continued: ‘’This is an incredibly irresponsible and dangerous thing to do. The actions of these youths could have had very different consequences and could have resulted in someone being seriously injured or worse. I would urge anyone who knows who might be responsible to get in touch with us.’’
Anyone who can identify those responsible is asked to contact Police Scotland Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any police officer. Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
