A MAN who was airlifted to safety after the yacht he was sailing ran aground off the west coast has now been arrested on an international warrant.

The 35-year-old was rescued from the vessel near the Skerryvore lighthouse, close to the Isle of Tiree, at 3.30am on Tuesday.

Two lifeboats were sent to the scene but a coastguard helicopter was required due to “extremely rough seas” in the area.
