Man dies after car overturns in early morning M8 crash
A MAN died when his car crashed on Scotland's busiest motorway early yesterday.
He was trapped in the car, a green Rover, which overturned on the M8 at around 5.15am, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said. No other vehicle is thought to have been involved.
Fire crews attended but were not able to save the 36-year-old man, who died at the scene.
The accident happened on the eastbound carriageway between Harthill and East Whitburn.
The motorway was closed between junctions four and five eastbound for several hours after the crash while police carried out investigations into how the accident happened.
They have appealed for information from any witnesses, or from anyone who may have seen a small green hatchback driving eastward on the M8 immediately before the accident.
