A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked as he left a boxing event.

The 41-year-old had been at a bout at the Albert Halls, Stirling, and left at around 10pm on Saturday with two friends, aged 35 and 43.

As they left the venue they were attacked by a group of men near The Back Wall.

The 41-year-old suffered serious injuries to his head and face and was taken by ambulance to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert where he remains in intensive care. The two other men were treated for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Colin Moffat said: “We have descriptions of two of the men who carried out this attack.

“One is described as being white, in his mid 20s, muscular build, black spiky hair with both arms covered by sleeve tattoos. He was wearing a cream T-shirt.

“The second man is described as white, again in his mid 20s, slim build, short dark hair and was wearing a blue coloured blazer.

“Anyone who may have been in the area of The Back Wall is asked to call us at Stirling on 101 if they saw or witnessed this assault and can help identify those responsible.
