Making health assessment at home easy PC with Care Pod
A HOME computer which allows people to assess their own health has been unveiled.
In the latest telehealth development, the Care Pod is set to be made available to people in the Lothians suffering a variety of illnesses.
The portable touch-screen device allows people to assess their own health by plugging whatever device their medical condition requires into the machine, which then takes readings and assesses their condition that day.
It comes days after NHS Lothian revealed 400 people with illnesses such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder or stroke victims would be given a mobile computer which sends results daily to their local GP.
Long-term, it is expected a wider use of telehealth should reduce queues at surgeries.
