Lothian doctors scrub up well
DOCTORS in the Lothians have radically improved their compliance with national guidelines on handwashing.
Last year the Evening News reported how fewer than 90 per cent of senior medics were washing their hands as often as they should, risking the spread of swine flu and superbugs.
Health chiefs announced this week that compliance was now up to 94 per cent in that department, with the overall NHS Lothian score sitting at 90 per cent.
The Scottish Government believes a "zero tolerance" approach should be adopted on handwashing.
