FILMING has taken place in East Lothian on a sequel to the cult horror classic The Wicker Man.

The film crew on the production of The Wicker Tree shot footage in Haddington and at council depots in Macmerry for the feature set for release next year.

The film is based on the 2006 novel Cowboys for Christ and is described as a "partial sequel" to 1973's The Wicker Man.

It deals with many of the same themes and ideas, such as the clash between paganism and Christianity, and is the second part of The Wicker Man Trilogy which is to be concluded with Twilight of the Gods.

The council's communications and marketing, estates and transportation staff have all been involved in assisting the film crew with their requirements.
