Lothian best at updating NHS

NHS Lothian is the best health board in Scotland for modernising GP services, a study has found.

It is the fourth year in succession the board has been voted the country's best in rolling out proposals from the General Medical Services Contract, introduced in 2004.

The contract aimed to modernise and make more efficient the way family doctors offered care and improve the service patients received.

Following the annual survey, NHS Lothian was given a 95 per cent success rating, considerably higher than the Scottish average of 84 per cent.
