Lochside voted best picnic spot
A SCENIC area in the Cairngorms National Park has been named Britain's best picnic spot.
Loch an Eilean, in Rothiemurchus, near Aviemore, won the national contest run by bakers Warburtons. It received 3,508 votes in the national search and will get a 1,000 cash bursary.
Philippa Grant, of the Rothiemurchus estate, said: "Anyone who has ever visited Loch An Eilean will know how special the area is not only as a picnic spot for our visitors but also as home to rare species of wildlife, many unique to this area."
