Lidl kilts sell out within hours
CUT-PRICE kilts being offered at a supermarket sold out within hours.
Customers rushed to Lidl stores across Scotland to snap up the kilts, which went on sale yesterday for 24.99. In one store, it took just 15 minutes for the traditional dress to sell out.
And by 11am, just three hours after opening, they had flown off the racks at all 82 stores.
The kilts were intended as a one-off special promotion for Burns Night. But they have proved so popular that Lidl staff have been taking orders and hope to get more kilts in stock.
Gordon Greens, Lidl's operation manager, said it had been the supermarket's most successful promotion "by far". He added: "We are getting in touch with our Scottish supplier to get more."
