Libraries to extend hours of opening
OPENING hours at four East Lothian libraries will be extended as part of a council scheme to make the service more responsive to residents' needs.
Libraries in Dunbar, Gullane, North Berwick and Musselburgh will be open for longer from August 1 but should not affect the libraries service budget.
Dunbar Library will be open for 36 hours a week rather than 32 hours currently; North Berwick Library will be open for an additional 4.5 hours and also all day on Saturday and through lunchtimes all week; Gullane Library will increase its hours from 18 to 24 per week; and Musselburgh Library will now open for 47.5 hours week - an increase of 10 hours.
Cabinet member with responsibility for Community Services, Councillor Ruth Currie said: "We hope that by changing opening times in some of our libraries, we will be able to cater to more readers."
