THE Liberal Democrats will balance Britain’s books and invest an extra £800 million in the Scottish NHS, Scottish leader Willie Rennie has pledged.

The MSP will kick off the Scottish Liberal Democrat campaign tour in Kirkintilloch backing local candidate and current Business Minister Jo Swinson.

“With Liberal Democrats in government, you don’t have to choose between a stronger economy or a fairer society. You can have both”

Willie Rennie

Speaking ahead of the tour, Mr Rennie said: “With taxes down, pensions up, new jobs and more childcare, Liberal Democrats have a record to be proud of in Government.

“We have held Government in the centre ground. We have provided stability in the face of one of the toughest recessions in living memory.

“Our priorities for a stronger economy and a fairer society are distinctly liberal priorities. They put a stop to the see-saw economics of the past and allow us to create opportunity for all.

“We will cut less than the Conservatives and borrow less than Labour and the SNP.

“With Liberal Democrats in government, you don’t have to choose between a stronger economy or a fairer society. You can have both.

“Our clear and affordable plan enables us to balance the books by 2018 and invest an extra £800 million in the Scottish NHS.

“Only the Liberal Democrats are committed to building a stronger economy and a fairer society which delivers more powers for Scotland, creating opportunity for all.”
