Lettuce cargo sprouts 18 migrants
EIGHTEEN stowaways have been caught trying to sneak into Britain hidden in a lorryload of lettuce, it emerged yesterday.
Border officials became suspicious of the Spanish-registered lorry at Calais. A search revealed 15 Iraqis, two Afghans and an Iranian hidden in the load. The lorry was heading for Merseyside.
