I HAVE just returned from a day-trip to Glasgow. Where  Edinburgh has a proliferation of beggars lining the streets, Glasgow has buskers. A walk down Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday afternoon is like the scary audition stage of X Factor.

Just because Billy Connolly comes from Glasgow does not make all Glaswegians funny, neither does the fact that Lulu hailed from Glasgow mean that all Glaswegians can sing.
