Trump dollars

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Scotland’s future will not be bought and sold for anyone’s gold” (your report, 22 October).

Under the circumstances this quote is unfortunate, if not hypocritical; Alex Salmond has already “sold” vast tracks of Scotland’s land (important both scientifically and environmentally) not for gold, I grant you, but for Donald Trump dollars.

Had Alex Salmond’s Deputy First Minister watch the documentary You’ve Been Trumped, she might have chosen a quote less embarrassing to the SNP.

Alex Salmond’s apparent gullibility and subservience towards the wealthy American is one thing.

But what it took to ensure Donald Trump’s scheme went through is an early warning.

It is not simply the harassed folk living on or beside Trump’s land who have worries; all
of us in Scotland should be
concerned.
