Pedro de Orgiva (Webview, 30 October) writes that Edinburgh needs a rapid transit system – trams – to replace the “lumbering buses”. How blinkered is he?

The buses in Edinburgh are wonderful, especially the handsome number 10s, which are well furbished and a joy to look at and travel in. The trams will never improve on the Edinburgh bus fleet.
