Was Robert Black (Perspective, 5 October) not in charge of Audit Scotland when it signed off the projected figures for the Edinburgh tram system?

If so, then we can take his assumptions of what things will be like in four years’ time with a very large dose of salt.

In any event his figures are based on a highly disputed  analysis of the demographic “time bomb” and within the context of a devolution financial straitjacket and not how things could be with economic freedom under independence.
