A colleague travelling up the A9 has just reported seeing an electronic sign board near Drumochter with the very helpful information: “Dual carriageway five minutes ahead.”

This is great news for road safety given the concerns about knowing whether you are driving on a dual carriageway, or not, and a relief for those who are getting stressed out stuck in a slow-moving queue of traffic.

However, when checking the accuracy of this information, she worked out that it was necessary to break the 60mph speed limit on the ordinary road to get there in five minutes!
