Stay off the boos

A MARVELLOUS production in Glasgow’s George Square last week in honour of the
terrific success of Scottish Olympic athletes was soiled by the infantile behaviour of a small section of the crowd which tried to make political capital by booing Scotland’s First Minister.

Alex Salmond shamed them by making a generous speech stressing the great achievement of all of the UK’s athletes. Nonetheless, some observers thought the childish behaviour was worth headlining, reinforcing my opinion that the No campaign is unable to provide any significant reasons to keep Scotland in the union, and is now reduced to low blows and the lowest level of politics. If they want to save the union – a perfectly legitimate objective – they seriously need to raise their game.
