Small is beautiful
While it is now accepted that the UK banks became too big and the lack of regulation resulted in the collapse, does the same logic not also apply to the near monopolist, and in some cases tax-avoiding, supermarkets which are squeezing our dairy farmers and food producers like Hall’s of Broxburn?
This also applies to Sky TV, which is squeezing Scottish Football when you contrast its £15 million deal to the £44m a year Norway receives for its league TV rights. Large, unregulated near- monopolies are bad for consumers and a small-is-beautiful independent nation should do things differently.
