Slow cars danger

I NOTE the launch of a police campaign targeting “poor driver behaviour” on the A9. This appears to mean speeding, requiring more radar traps.

As a regular user of this trunk road, I suggest speed is not the biggest problem; frustration is.

I would urge the police to target the drivers who seem content to sit behind slow, heavy lorries while failing to leave enough space for overtaking traffic.

The result is the familiar slow-moving crocodiles of vehicles, which often result in frustrated drivers taking unnecessary risks.

Another major factor is the authorities’ failure to maintain the once-excellent sight lines built into the design. Safe overtaking opportunities have been much reduced by the growth of trees and bushes now blocking the driver’s vision.
