Political ties

The political fallout over the BBC’s decision to block First Minister Alex Salmond from appearing on its Calcutta Cup coverage (your reports) raises some significant questions.

For example, we rarely hear of the number of BBC Scotland presenters who have affiliations with the Labour Party.

Moreover, we are also not told which so-called political commentators have links to the pro-unionist cause, such as Professor Arthurd Midwinter and Lorraine Davidson.

Surely the time has come for the Scottish people to be informed of these so-called neutral commentators as having their own personal agendas.

One looks forward to having a real debate over the independence issue and one in which the Scottish people are left to make up their own minds without broadcast interference.

The way Scotland is playing, maybe it is better not to be seen at any of the matches!

Politicians of every persuasion will do anything to get an appearance on the screen. On the day that it was announced that the Italian manager of England had resigned, the Prime Minister, David Cameron who was in Sweden at an important EU summit, still found some of his valuable time to give the BBC, ITN and SKY an interview about the resignation, in which he expressed his hope that another manager could be found before the Euro-Nations Championship?
