Own goal

The revelation that Mr Donald Trump has been presented with an Aberdeen FC shirt with his name on it and is immediately urging Dons fans to get behind their team is a bit much to stomach, in my opinion.

No doubt he shall be created an “honorary” Dons fan to go along with the honorary degree bestowed on him by Robert Gordon University.

Here is a man who, in all probability, didn’t know anything about Aberdeen FC when he first arrived on our shores being presented with a club shirt by Mr George Yule, executive vice-chairman, of AFC, yet it has taken years and years for footballing legend Denis Law to have had a statue erected in his honour in his home city.

What next? The proposed new stadium at Loirston being named Trump International
Stadium?

Nothing would surprise me. I find the fawning and forelock touching indulged in by our local business fraternity
towards Mr Trump to be both nauseous and cringeworthy.
