Out of place

I AM appalled at the sloppy journalism in your obituary for Sir Andrew Hugh Smith (27 October). Ardtornish Estate is on the mainland, at Morvern, not the Isle of Mull, as is Claggan School. I lived there for 15 years when my husband was the factor on the estate.

Andrew was a gentleman of the old school, good to work with and very astute. If only others of his ilk were running financial institutions today.
