Negative message

Poor Alexander McKay (Letters, 10 September). Hardly a week has passed since the SNP was voted into power at Holyrood without another attempt by Mr McKay to vilify the object of his obsession, our First Minister, Alex Salmond.

What a pity that such a supposedly strong supporter of the Union cannot find some constructive words to write about how the House of Lords might finally be reformed in keeping with a modern democracy.

How poor is the argument in favour of the constitutional
status quo that the most vocal supporters of the Union on
these pages can present so few positive arguments on delivering a significantly better future for the majority of the people of Scotland?

By the way, what has happened to the one politician associated with the No
Campaign whom I thought might be capable of conveying at least some positive arguments on the way forward for Scotland post-
Calman, Charles Kennedy?
