Money woes

I COULDN’T agree more with Jeff Salway (Smart Money, 18 August). It’s intolerable that Royal Bank of Scotland and the Lloyds Group should discriminate against customers with basic bank accounts by restricting their access to cash machines. Many of them will already be struggling to make ends meet and it is not acceptable that the banks should treat them less well than their wealthier clients.  

We, as taxpayers, are part owners of these banks and should not allow them to behave so abominably. I shall be writing to the Royal Bank of Scotland, telling it that I deplore its behaviour and am thinking of transferring my accounts to another bank and would encourage all readers in similar positions to do likewise.
