Law rethink plea

We currently have our
government asking Westminster to tinker with equality legislation in order to ensure religionists will be able to
discriminate within their own organisations.

How about, at the same time, we ask Westminster to repeal the law that forces every one
of Scotland’s 32 education
committees to have three
unelected clerics sitting on them (four in the case of the Western Isles and Shetland).

The news that Edinburgh City Council will allow just one
parent to sit on its committee is derisory.
