Housing boost

It IS very encouraging to see the heightened political focus on the need to build more affordable homes.

Following John Swinney’s recent announcement of £40 million extra for affordable housing and Ed Balls’ assertion that 4G licence revenues should be used to invest in affordable housing (your report, 1 October), it finally seems like politicians are seeing merit in fixing this major social crisis. We hope this increased attention from politicians will lead to long-term planning and investment aimed at ending Scotland’s chronic shortage of
affordable housing.
