Happy marriage

It is a welcome move that has seen the Scottish Government bring forward plans to legalise same-sex marriage.

It is good to see that the government has not caved into the religious lobby. The Catholic Church and the Church of Scotland don’t even speak for the majority of their followers on this issue, never mind the rest of Scotland.

The position of Scotland’s two main churches is no different to that of Fred Phelps and his Church and is an
embarrassment to Scotland.

The so-called “defenders” of traditional marriage should now realise that they are on the wrong side of history and lost the argument

I HAVE never felt more proud to be Scottish.

The Scottish Government’s refusal to bow to the wishes of religious bigots on the subject of gay marriage is admirable. Those who object to gay people being married will soon realise that marriage is not a finite resource. It will make no difference to their lives but will make many other people incredibly happy.
