Games a success
Michael Kelly (Perspective, 6 September) strikes completely the wrong note with regards to the London 2012 Paralympics, which were an outstanding success. Surely there can be few Scots, English, Irish or anyone else who will disagree.
Many of these athletes perform at elite levels relative to their abilities and disabilities. Who cares if comparison between one classification and another may not always be perfect. It is the best system available and works well, most of the time.
Rather than criticise the whole Paralympic movement and try to limit the ambition of the athletes, he should be congratulating them and welcoming their success.
David Weir, Sarah Storey, Ellie Simmons, Josef Craig, Jonny Peacock and many others have given us a great show. I also admire blade runner Oscar Pistorius for his achievements and the way he has represented those who face life with added difficulties. Nobody, least of all Michael Kelly, should try to limit human achievement, be it in sport, culture, music or politics or anywhere else.
